Frequently Asked Questions

What is your position on this or that issue?

As a candidate for judge, my personal opinions on issues have no bearing on the way I will rule from the bench. Judges should decide cases fairly with no personal bias, based only on the law and the facts before them. That's why you won't find me expressing my personal views on this website or in my campaign. Personal views have no place on the bench, and I pledge that my personal views on any issue will never influence my decisions as a Judge.

You're not taking donations, just how are you funding this campaign?

My campaign is 100% personally financed. See my "Donations" page for more information about why I don't believe in campaign contributions for Judicial elections. I also don't believe that Judicial elections should be bought, either. I'm pledging not to spend more than $5,000 on my entire campaign. I challenge my opponents to do the same.

Okay, how do you expect to win without spending any money?

In today's election climate it might sound crazy: how can you win an election without spending a ton of money on billboards, signs, radio and television ads? I believe that people are tired and frustrated with the climate of politics, and they are really afraid when the big money and cut-throat tactics come into play with a position as important as Judge. I'm campaigning with a modest amount of my own money, in order to help spread the word about my philosophy. I'm asking you to spread the word if you believe that the position of Judge should have integrity and should not be bought or sold.

How would you rule on this case or that case?

Again, I believe that every Judge has a duty to decide each case individually, based on the law and the facts before the Court. It would be improper for me to speculate how I would rule on any particular set of facts. I simply pledge to be fair, unbiased, and to apply the law and the facts to the case before me.

What are your qualifications?

I am licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois and am a member of the American Bar Association, and the Chicago Bar Association. I am also a founding member of the Chicago Bar Association's Animal Law Committee. I served as Co-Chair of the CBA YLS Environmental Law Committee and the co-editor for the YLS Section of the CBA Record. I am a graduate of Chicago-Kent College of Law and am currently in private practice.

Aren't you too young/old/inexperienced to be a Judge?

As I stated previously, I believe there are five qualities essential to being a good Judge: fairness, impartiality, patience, wisdom and a solid knowledge of the law. I believe these are the qualities that make a good judge. I believe I possess all five of these qualities and that I will be fair in allowing both parties before me to be heard, to present their cases, and that I will apply the laws of the State of Illinois and the United States of America with integrity in any matter that should come before me. What I am not experienced in is party politics and campaign fund raising.
